Zeger Karssen

Founder & CEO

Zeger Karssen graduated from the University of Amsterdam in both Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence. Since then he has gained extensive experience in scientific research, publishing and internet technology. Previous positions include work as a senior researcher in artificial intelligence for the University of Amsterdam and for a private laboratory in Paris. From 2000 to 2006 he worked as a scientific publisher for Elsevier, where he created new scientific journals and book-series and managed a portfolio of 15 internationally renowned journals in the field of artificial intelligence. In 2006, he founded Atlantis Press, a full Open Access publisher. Atlantis Press was acquired by SpringerNature in 2021. Zeger is also an associate professor of digital publishing at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
